Copy USB
The Copy USB function allows you to direct and organize copies of your files. You can copy any selection of your folders and files and decide to move the copies to and from your devices. Copy USB is currently available on these devices:
- My Cloud™ Home
- My Cloud
How it works
On the Home tab, under “Actions,” you’re given the option to Copy USB. Plug in your external USB device to get started. The users on your device are notified of the USB connection and have access to the contents. After it’s connected, you can choose to either copy from your USB or copy to your USB. Keep in mind that only one copy process can be active at a time.
Copy from USB
You can choose to copy all files from your external USB drive to your device or just a selection of files. To do so, follow these steps:
Note: You have the option to cancel the Copy USB action at any time in the process. However, files already copied during the copy process cannot be canceled.
- From the Home tab, tap the Copy USB button under "Actions".
- Connect an external USB device and tap Copy from USB.
- Tap Copy all or Select files and folders. If you tapped Select files and folders, continue to choose the items you want to copy.
- Tap Copy to….
- Select the destination of the copied files and folders, and tap Copy here.
- While the copy process is running, you can tap Ok to return to the Home tab while it continues in the background.
Caution: Don’t disconnect the USB during the copy process.
Once the copy is complete, you receive a “Copy successful” notification. Tap Ok to return to the Home tab.

Errors
You might receive errors during the copy process. When this happens, you can attempt to fix the problem and then retry the copy request. The following list explains the errors that can occur and how you can proceed.
- Your device is full: When you receive this error, you should make room for the remaining files on your device. The copy process will have successfully copied the files and folders it could fit until space ran out on your device. Next time, check the amount of space on your device before you begin.
- Read error: When you receive this error, tap Retry or Cancel. You can try unplugging the external drive and plugging it in again. Sometimes there’s an error when EdgeRover attempts to read your external USB drive or perhaps it’s empty.
- Export error: When you receive this error, tap Retry or Cancel. There might not be any content on the device to copy. Be sure to check your device before you begin so that you’re sure that you have the files and folders you need to copy.
